Farther south, in Hue , you will marvel at its citadel, palaces, royal tombs, pagodas and temples. Then it’s off to the river town of Hoi An, where you will tour centuries-old merchant houses, and visit busy silk and fish markets.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s dynamic commercial center. Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi

Activities: Upon arrival, you will be met outside the baggage claim area by your guide who will escort you to a waiting vehicle for your transfer to downtown with a brief introduction en route. Your guide will be holding a welcome signboard with the Trekking Ha Giang LOGO & your name. During the drive your guide will provide an introduction to Hanoi. Hanoi is Vietnam’s capital city and home to seven million people. Traditional and refined with French colonial architecture, tree-lined boulevards, scenic lakes and a bustling Old Quarter, Hanoi has a sophisticated charm. Observe locals practicing Tai Chi by the lake, with barbers and food vendors plying their sidewalk trade.

Day 2: Hanoi city tour full day

Activities: The capital of Vietnam, a city that celebrated 1.000 years in 2010 has countless fascinating cultural and historic sites and our days’ tour will visit the highlights. See the grand and solemn mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh (viewed from outside; closed Mon and Fri and from Oct-Nov), the ‘icon of Hanoi’ – The One Pillar Pagoda, the beautiful Temple of Literature, West Lake’s Tran Quoc temple and Quan Thanh pagoda as well as the fascinating Ethnology Museum, the bustling Old Quarter and at the end of the day – a water puppet performance.

Day 3: Hanoi – Halong Bay

Activities: We’ll pick you up in Hanoi by 8:00am and drive through the verdant Red River Delta to make our way to the famous UNESCO World Heritage site, Halong Bay. You’ll board a luxury junk ship for an overnight cruise– while you relax on-board you can marvel at the incredible limestone karsts that jut out of the sea and the thousands of jungle-covered islands that seem to float on the waves. The turquoise waters of the Gulf of Tonkin swirl around hidden grottoes and ancient caves to create an enchanting, timeless world. We’ll serve you a fresh seafood lunch while you sit back and relax as you enjoy the incredible view with a drink in your hand. We’ll take you to a traditional fishing village where the locals have created an entire town on the decks of their boats, then you can explore Tien Ong Cave before returning to the cruise for cocktails, canapés, and a spectacular sunset. End your day with a romantic, candlelit dinner.

Day 4: Halong Bay – Hanoi – Hue

Activities: Awaken on board to the magnificent vista of Halong Bay in the morning. Begin the day with a Tai Chi class on deck in the early morning mist or just admire the beautiful scenery as the sun rises over the azure waters. The boat moves on its way as you decide when its time to actually arise. As you make your way back to Halong City you partake in a leisurely brunch that is provided on board. Jump onto dry land and hop into the vehicle with you guide for a relaxing ride back through the rural countryside and into Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi, take a daily use room for relaxing and quick shower. 20:00: the guide pick you up and transfer you to railway station for a night train to Hue

Day 5: Hue Tour

Activities: Early in the morning, arrive in Hue, the guide will pick you up and bring you for having breakfast, then you’ll begin your day in Hue with a visit to the ruins of the Imperial Citadel, the capital of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945. Then take a bicycle trip through the Old City to Tinh Tam Lake, the ancient gardens of the emperors. In the afternoon you can head to the Mu Pagoda, overlooking the emerald Perfume River. Your last stop will be to explore Khai Dinh’s Tomb, a traditional Vietnamese temple with a European touch, making it a particularly unique tomb among the ancestral ruins of ancient Hue. Then Free time for visiting city.

Day 6: Hue - Danang - Hoian

Day 7: Hoian Tour – Ho Chi Minh City

Activities: Breakfast at your hotel and a walking tour of Hoi An’s ancient town centre will take you back in time to when its was a major trading port in Asia. Visit old shophouses, the 400 year-old Japanese Bridge, a Chinese communal hall and the colorful market in this well-preserved town. Then free time for relaxing on Cua Dai Beach until pick you up and transfer you to airport for a flight to Ho Chi Minh city. Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City, pick you up and transfer you to your hotel. Day 8: Ho Chi Minh City Tour – Cu Chi Tunnels

Activities: We’ll pick you up in the morning and take you to the Cu Chi Tunnels, a major part of the Vietnam-American War and a fascinating day trip– explore the mysterious tunnels, find hidden doors and once-deadly traps. After lunch we’ll go back to HCMC and spend the afternoon either visiting the War Remnants Museum or the Reunification Palace Palace, whichever you prefer. Then stroll around the city’s colonial streets in the evening to the Old Saigon Post Office, Dong Khoi Street, Continental Hotel, Opera House and City Hall.

Day 9: Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta – My Tho

Activities: You’ll be collected from your hotel in the morning by your guide. You’ll journey through the fascinating urban sprawl of Saigon where you can enjoy the architectural surprises of the most varied city in Asia. Then it’s off to My Tho to join a Mekong River Cruise. Your boat heads down the Bao Dinh natural canal and you can enjoy taking some leisurely snaps of the Stilt Houses and brimming fruit plantations along the banks.The boat then meets up with the Tan Thach natural canal and your route is shaded by the canopy of water coconut trees. You’ll spend some time with a local family and you can enjoy learning about the agricultural heritage of Vietnam. We spend some time trekking through the fruit plantations of Thoi Son island where you’ll be able to sample the local delicacies. Then transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City.
